Paranormal research is the study of unexplained phenomena that fall outside the scope of traditional science. It involves investigating experiences and events such as ghosts, hauntings, UFOs,  telepathy, and other supernatural occurrences. Paranormal researchers use a mix of scientific methods, technology (e.g., EMF meters, thermal cameras, spirit boxes), and personal experiences to explore these phenomena.

Some common areas of paranormal research include:

• Ghost hunting – Investigating haunted locations for evidence of spirits.
• Ufology – Studying unidentified flying objects and possible extraterrestrial encounters.
• Psychic phenomena – Examining abilities like telepathy, precognition, or mediumship.

While operation under the auspices  of the New Zealand Paranormal Research Unit, Mary Scartino and her team investigated over 1000 cases over the last forty years.

We will share as much of our research as we can. Over the last 40 years, we’ve looked into over 1000 cases of paranormal activity, so we have a lot to go through. It might take us 2 to 3 years to share most of it.

We are currently too busy to open to the public, but we will open the Paranormal Visitor Experience around mid-2025.

You will be able to examine some examples of our work in our audio visual display area. There you will be able to learn a good bit about our history. 

We aim to give visitors a taste of poltergeist activity in our  specially recreated haunted bedroom.

There will be a few surprises which we want to keep a secret.

And of course, you will be able to take part in a live seance , guided  by Mary Scartino herself.

The Scartino Research Institute has absolutely  no connection to Wellington Paranormal, although we do have great admiration for all of the work that the  Wellington Constabulary perform.
